On March 03, 2023, several partners from the UNCOVER project participated to the CERIS Fighting Crime & Terrorism (FCT) workshop on Europol’s new role in Horizon Europe. This workshop brought together representatives of the European Commission, of Europol and of ongoing EU-funded research projects related to the fight against crime and terrorism. Two presentations (Strengthened Europol mandate and Main activities of Europol in Research & Innovation) were followed by panel discussions and general audience discussions. During the event, insightful discussions took place on issues related to Europol’s current role in European projects, as well as Europol’s new role in Horizon Europe.

Additional important aspects were also discussed, such as best practices when developing tools of LEAs interest, how to involve LEAs in research projects and the societal impact of developed tools. With their participation, UNCOVER reached out to other project representatives for exchanging experiences and ways in which tools and project outcomes can be shared.
